In recent news, J has decided to build a rocket in our backyard--his destination is yet to be determined, but he has narrowed his options to space or Iraq. As an unrelated tidbit, today J approached me at the computer with a request to look up how to communicate with snakes. As I giggled, he became annoyed and reminded me that "the Internet knows everything." Later in the car, he made the big announcement that he has decided where he will play football in college: "I'm going to BYU, Mom." Go, Cougars!
The twins are developing skills of their own. A is a fierce little biter, but I have yet to figure out how to get her to stop since her brother's screams of terror don't seem to faze her. She's also babbling up a storm. Talking is just around the corner for her--maybe when she starts talking her mouth will be too busy to bite her brother.
E still finds such unrestrained joy in life. Today at some local fountains he had all the moms laughing with the rolling laughter he would belt out with every burst of water that pelted him. He is much more of a snuggler than A, so E spends more of his day enjoying the action of the day from my lap or my hip. He's terrified of his older brother, and he worships J all at once.
(Insert video of J wrestling with twins. As soon as I figure that one out.)
This past weekend our friends' four kids came to stay with us while their parents were on our stake's pioneer handcart trek. Having seven kids here was so fun--the four siblings were pretty amazing--and I hope we have at least seven of our own someday. (Just checking to see if you're reading this, Daniel.) While they were here, we took our band of seven junior archaeologists to hunt for fossils--it was a perfectly refreshing option for a warm, muggy day.
I have no photography skills, but I can't get enough of the how the light plays on the water in that verdant setting.
J and his tow-headed temporary brothers located some really old oyster shells.
And E wanted to be just like them, but he became a little distracted by the ooey-gooey mud.

I can name that tune in three notes. :) Your summer sounds just the way it should. You are so wise not to wish the time away...these really are the 'good old days.' I laughed that the "Internet knows everything." I swore I trained our children that I was dumb. I always responded "Let's ask dad" when they came to me with impossible questions. Now, the Internet is the smart one.
How fun! It is great having extra kids around for the little ones to play with. It is so fun watching them all grow and develop especially your two littlest since they are the same age as our little guy.
Oh my. I can't get enough of your kids. Love that there is a rocket being built in your backyard. Surprised he wants to go to Iraq. I'd go to space any day over that place.
ps. you can snuggle with my little boy as much as you want! He LOVES to burrow his little nose in my neck. Maybe you'll smell like me enough that he'll do it to you too.
Oh, those pictures look heavenly. We just don't have lots of places like that out here in the desert!
A rocket ship!? I love it. And I'd love to see a photograph...
I love that internet comment! he is SO clever.
Cailean told me that she would have her kids bite a bar soap when they bit someone. Sometimes I want a biter so I can try it!
You are such a sweet mom and it is so fun to keep updated about the happenings of your wonderful family. Thanks for keeping in touch with us.
I love reading your posts--you really inspire me to be better! Thanks for the laughs and inspiration.
