Alternate title: "We Crossed that Bridge Once We Came To It". Why has it taken us so long to do this? Is it the history of the structure, its beautiful lines, its place on the Manhattan cityscape? I'm not sure, but I loved this FREE family outing.
Start in Cadman Plaza complete with its astroturf soccer field, accompanying Saturday morning futbolistas, runners, and a few happy dogs being walked. Make sure your meter has plenty of quarters. Bring your tutu (if you have A's taste in clothing.)
Start early and stay in the pedestrian lane to avoid being run over by cyclists in their many varieties. Bring lollipops for your nap-prone toddlers.
Look for Lady Liberty out there in the New Jersey part of the Harbor.
After your return to Brooklyn, check out the new Brooklyn Bridge Park and picnic with friends. We happened to be lucky enough to picnic with Dan's cousin and her little family. Our kids could have stayed here all day long rolling down hills, chatting, and enjoying the view of Lower Manhattan just over the East River.

So cute! We miss you guys!

I so want to go and do all of this one day. Anything "Brooklyn" makes me think of my all time favorite singer...Neil Diamond. Gorgeous day, and I don't know why, but I just didn't envision the bridge like that. So ornate. The tutu needs no commentary.
I want to go!!!!
Love the tutu!
Liz, I don't always comment, but I always read, and I love your posts! Keep 'em coming. This looks like a perfect day! I'd sure like to get to NJ before you guys decide to live somewhere else. Hopefully soon!
I want to go to Brooklyn just because I thought Spot Collins was so dreamy in Newsies (in a very "I'll put a rock through your eye with my slingshot if you mess with me", kind of a way). Let's add that to our to do list next time I hit the East Coast!
