(Family photo in the reflection of Juilliard windows. Can you see all five of us?)
We went into the City this morning--Lincoln Center made it seem deceptively calm. After snapping a quick family photo in front of the Temple we descended into the subway and emerged in the Christmas crowds of NYC. Notice the dearth of photos of Midtown. At the end of the day I would make an audible gasp when I realized I hadn't snapped any photos of the elaborate decorations in Rockefeller Plaza. We had such little space to move and we were anchoring our three children and maneuvering our double stroller. I heard someone say to their group in a Staten Island accent "keep movin'--you gotta keep movin' in New York City" and I stepped back against the Rock Center building so that I could take a break.
This year's tree, as always, is giant. Seventy-four feet tall and three thousand lights, I read.
While D and J dove into the Lego shop there on the Plaza, the twins enjoyed snacks and did a little jig under its evergreen bows, happy to be free of constraints.
We made a premature exit from our plans to see the shops on Fifth Avenue so that D could make it to the temple and I could see our friend Minda. In addition to being a great hostess and a beautiful friend, she's also a serious athlete--she's on the US paratriathalon team.
After a great lunch and some serious wrestling with Shawn the kids completely ignored the movie I had brought along to keep them busy. They were happier trying to figure out Minda's awesome chair. A movie's got nothin' on a wheelchair.
J was super patient as he tried to figure out how to get into and out of tight spots in the apartment. His tenacity is impressive. (See Minda's hand cycle in the background? She wins big races with that beauty.)
I will miss being so close to this great City. It has been such a blessing to be able to access the Temple with public transportation. I have enjoyed our Saturday trips in and I hope it won't be too long before we get to go back.

LOVE the scarf. I'm so glad it's being put to good use! That baby would not be worn if it were her with me in Cali! How fun that you went to NY to see Minda & see the tree (and all the other NYC sites).
OH how beautiful!!!
It is true though, you have to keep moving in NYC, we stopped going after Elena was born.
The truth is a couldn't handle the cold!!
One of the most unique "standing in front of a temple" shots ever. Would be a fun/sweet/cool/different Christmas card photo! Love the colorful hat with the purple on top!
Man do I miss that about New Jersey or what? Going into the city on the train.. nothing better then that. Are you guys moving??
