On The Swings

Our elementary school is just up the road from us, so we've been walking there to enjoy the quiet playground and available swingset.  Today I noticed a few things.

J is a human heater.  There is no convincing him that he needs to wear a coat or boots if his internal thermostat tells him otherwise.
E is quite comfortable doing his own thing.  He stayed upright on the swing for about three seconds and then insisted on swinging superman style.  Whatever he does it usually involves large muscle movement and is accompanied by sound effects.  He made airplane sounds as he torpedo-ed through the air, and after that he roared as he lifted a six-foot branch up over his head.  After that he climbed onto the play structure, counting his steps in shouts.
A loves the sun and I should probably make her wear sunglasses every time we go out.  When she swings she wants to face the light and after she's gotten over the belly-dropping sensation, her face relaxes with her eyes closed.  She'll stay this way for minutes on end.
My rainboots are black.  Usually when I select things in black I think "basic black" when sometimes that means "boring black." Why didn't I get yellow or purple or red or plaid?  I'm still resistant to buy anything that says "I am coming."  My next pair of rainboots will be leaf green or chartreuse, I've decided.

It's true.
Black boots are boring.

You, however, are not boring.

A looks very much like I remember you growing up. How exciting!

That picture of A with her eyes closed is SO amazing! Precious.

Ok, everyone is saying it, but the picture of A is so beautiful! I love her chunky cheeks and her little toddler mouth pudgy lips. My last little baby has similar features and I'm soaking them up every day, so this picture hits me in a special place ;)

I bought some zebra print rain boots this year (because they were the cheapest I could find, and were on clearance), but I'm afraid to wear them most of the time. I think you described why I fear wearing them--I don't want to feel as if I'm saying, "Here I come!" When I do get the guts to wear them, though, it is kind of fun to see if people notice, and what they do. But black boots would definitely get more use. Good choice.

A's little mouth in that last photo of her. I see her mom. Just a fleeting moment, but you'll always recall it. Cute commentary and memory.
