It's spring break, so we've been playing with a full team on the court, so to speak. It's fun to have J at home, and I love the dynamic of having him along on adventures.
Yesterday we met D on grounds (that's how they say "campus" 'round here) for lunch of bagel sandwiches. We chose a nice sunny spot with the perfect entertainment in view--springtime tree pruning! I was glad the wind wasn't blowing towards us. Note to self: always go towards the construction guys in orange if you're picnicking with toddlers since that's wear the action is.
Today's adventure was to Ivy Creek for a walk and picnic. It's coming alive with spring growth and so beautiful.
Note to self: April marks the beginning of short-sleeve weather. It was too warm in our long sleeves today. Everyone's cheeks were flushed by the time we made it back to our car.
I find the natural world highly distracting. My mind kept wandering off into the upper bows of the budding trees--can you see all those tiny leaves unrolling up there? I'd be brought back to my duties by a "can I have another sandwich?"
It has actually been hard convincing J to leave the house this week. He has read over twenty Margic Treehouse books in seven days in attempt to earn books for his personal library. I made a relatively low-key promise on the last day of school last week and he took it so seriously. I have been so impressed by his diligence.
The offer officially expired today so we trekked to the bookstore before our hike but not before taking all these back to the library since I'm pretty sure we were violating some sort of library etiquette.

Ohh that magic treehouse. It's a special place. I'm so impressed that he read all of those. What a cute book worm.
Ahh, magic treehouse. They are beloved at our house as well. Of course, Susanna can't actually read them yet, but she could listen all day. And we have a red cheek issue here as well(but our persists even with short sleeves and popsicles).
