Trips to the beach might be the best outings of summer when we're in New Jersey. I saw a bumper sticker that said "Show Me the Way to the Jersey Shore" and I think I'd be tempted to buy one if I was (a) a bumper sticker person and (b) not worried that someone might thinking I was talking about a certain trashy reality show.
We were able to go to Island Beach State Park twice last week. First, we went with friends.

My training on the beaches of central California prepared me for knowing how to combat chilliness on the beach. Absolutely required are a beach chair (as a windbreak) and a really dry towel or blanket. Works every time.

But E votes for sand all the way.
It was so fun to be there with my friends, too. They are smart and beautiful and so much fun.
I decided that if I ever become a real photographer my favorite photos will be the ones of parents and their kids at play. There aren't enough of these, I've decided.
We went back to the beach as a family on the weekend. Here are a few more shots from that trip:

I love ALL these pictures! Beach pictures are the beach! The one of J in the wave is so great :) Kids LOVE the ocean -- I am pretty sure we are destined to spend a LOT of future time at the beach.
This is fabulous.
Not much has changed since last year's beach trips, except for the fact that the kids are older. J & A love the waves and E prefers the sand. Love it! And, another major difference, I was not there! Loved the phone call with the roaring surf as a background!
Loved being there with you guys--it was a fun day!
