Wednesday Workshop So Far

On Wednesdays our kitchen becomes an art studio in the middle of the day.  A couple little friends join us and I don't waste time mopping the floor or wiping down anything before they show up.  Good messes are made. We are a process-minded group, and these artists love experimenting with media.  I love seeing them engaged in their individual spaces on the floor.

Fingerpaint was the obvious choice for our first session.
Last week we fingerprinted with ink pads.  I wish I had taken photos of each individual project--their interpretations of my example (in the foreground) were so unique.
Today we did a little a little printing using apples.
I couldn't tell if their hands at the end reminded me more of Macbeth or La Tomatina.
And just a note to myself for future project planning, paint projects for them are without value without the opportunity to mix the colors all up to a new shade of brown.
I love linoleum.  I know it's not what the cool kids put on their kitchen floor, but with three year-olds in the house it is the perfect surface for our Wednesday studio.

I love how you let them explore this world of art, without rules. I am all about the process as well! Apples? Great idea. And hurray for linoleum! xo

Oh, to be a kid again. Once in awhile my older kids remind of of memories they have from childhood and feeling "so free." Your children have lots of good freedom...just how a childhood should be.
