Sometimes moms and kids needs a little break from the hard-and-fast rules of routine and schedules, don't you think? Ten books or five watercolor paintings or eight dance songs generally do the trick.
The other day we shoved off from port after negotiating our journey. "OK. Ten books. But that's it." It was like taking a micro vacation in my own living room.
All the housework quietly waited for me to come back but not until we were refreshed and relaxed.
Tell me this: what's your ideal micro-break with your kids?

Love those tomes I drop everything to do a little something with the kids. Books are definitely a favorite, but a game (like Zingo or Sorry, even though it's not my favorite) or a puzzle are fun, too. A dance is good, too.
Ours is similar to yours....I love to sit down on the floor with pillows and blankets and just read books to them. Or - we race Hot Wheels in the hallway :)
We do books or nail polish while watching Word World.
Some of the most fun times we have spent, and it feels so good to stop and just enjoy the moment.
