After School Update

My record-keeping here is suffering as we're transitioning into new school routines. We'll figure this out. In the meantime we are enjoying our after-school routine of homework, Legos, reading, pretending (for example, yesterday A and E went mountain climbing in the basement with harnesses fashioned from ropes from Grandpa B), lessons, and snacking. Here's our September update.

A has become a monkey bar pro. It's her preferred activity at recess, though today she tripped and acquired a lovely lavender goose egg (see photo above) on her forehead. Today was the first day in a few weeks that she didn't whimper when I dropped her off, largely due to her excitement over her new long-sleeved sequin tee that she wanted to show off. She loves her reading buddy and Friday's Alphabet Cafe, but she doesn't love lunch because "it's so hard to keep the rules." After school she loves snuggling and reading me her books.

E loves everything about school and whipped out his over-the-top, cross-eyed, cheesy smile as sort of evidence of this. He plays some variation of chase at every recess and never seems to get enough time on the playground. He would love it if his older brother would play their variation of two-man tackle football everyday of the week. He still loves his Pokemon card collection, and playing with them has turned him into an impressive mental mathematician. After school he asks for frozen blueberries and corn and wants to be outside.

J has a mild obsession with football. He plays it at lunch. He reads fictional and factual accounts about football in his spare time. He thinks about his fantasy football team frequently. In other news, he was voted the representative of his class to the school student council. He is so proud to have me at his school and hugs me in the halls and lunchroom. After school he puts off homework and practice so that he can read one more chapter of his current book or go through his football cards again.

I forgot that you're working! How is that going? I love that picture of J. He's a good boy.
