The Few Days Left in Summer

In the few weeks after our return from the west, we tried to have really slow days. The Harrisons came through from Boston en route to a family reunion. I feel grateful for even brief periods to catch up with them.
We visited Dan's new office in the Batten School of Public Policy, we went out to lunch a few times, and we puttered around our house. We visited nearby creeks and swam in the neighborhood pool as late as possible many evenings.

School started before the month was over and we all jumped right into new routines. This year is unique because we all had a significant first day: J in middle school, the twins in separate second grade classes, Dan in his new appointment at UVA, and I started classes at UVA to get my masters in reading curriculum and instruction.
