USRT15 #15--Flat Salt Water

Before putting Dan on a plane and before heading east to our Virgnia home, we took a tiny detour to Antelope Island State Park in the middle of the Great Salt Lake. We napped in the parking lot of the state park's visitor center because it was six a.m. and peacefully quiet. Eventually we woke up slowly and started getting accustomed to the dry, salty air. The smell was unpleasant at first, but then with a little time it wasn't so bothersome.
I had never seen the Great Salt Lake in person. We spent an hour in the salty air of this surreal spot tossing rocks and wating for evidence of living things. I was excited about seeing birds, but strangely, we didn't see many up close. As an unexpected bonus, we saw a bison and a coyote. But the run-in with the coyote was actually a "run-over" with a coyote, and I'm still feeling really badly about it.

Walking from the parking lot to the water and back is a hike. I stopped to notice the changing texture of the ground as I walked.
