Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! After 11 days in California, we are back home. Unfortunately I didn't do the best at taking photos at my parents' house--I knew somehow that my little sister would take over a hundred of them so I didn't worry. Until I get my copies of the photos, here's a quick pic of Joshua at our Christmas tree.

Gathering my energetic family in my parents' home has always been a challenging undertaking. With our expanding families each reunion becomes a little more eventful. Something is always going on . . . in every room of the house. Babies fitfully sleep while light saber matches are underway, pizza dough churns in Mom's mixer, football games elicit cheers and groans, presents are assembled last minute, and healthy family gossip passes through the ranks. That's not even a list of what could simultaneously be going on outside in Dad's workshop, the dirt pile in the orchard, and the pasture. Added to that list of regular Christmas occurences this year was a family-wide flu--through the nights, into early mornings and the days almost everyone had their turn. 7 out of 20 didn't have symptoms by the end of our trip.

Yesterday morning I witnessed a piece of luggage get lost--I watched as a duffle bag was jostled loose from a moving baggage truck and fell onto the jetway. A few minutes later another baggage guy picked it up and took the duffle in the opposite direction. I was slightly bothered by witnessing someone's tragedy-to-be. And then we arrived at the airport in Philadelphia to discover that our big bag was missing. I wonder if someone else witnessed my bag's fall to the jetway.

We spent 11 days in CA, too, and it was very eventful and a little chaotic as well :) !! Many were sick, and I am hoping we are now in the clear.

We didn't lose any luggage, but we did have a nice long delay on our flight. Hope you get your bag soon.

Happy New Year!

The chaos is so much fun and tiring and thrilling. I'm a tiny bit jealous, but Patrick and I had a very nice quiet holiday without any travel. It was great to be together, even if I did miss my family chaos a tiny bit.

Your pictures will soon be on their way. We are going to burn them onto a cd and send it off this week (hopefully). Tell Joshua hi for us.

Sounds like you had a fun and eventful Christmas. Your parent's farm was amazing when we visited them 2 year ago. Very lovely people that we will always remember and ever grateful for their open and warm hospitality.

Happy New New Year!
