A Beta Named Henry

Joshua chose a pet for himself. A beta named Henry joined our home last Monday night to celebrate some success Joshua has had following directions.

And Joshua just loves that little fish. He wants to take Henry outside to "get some fresh air". He wants me to allow Henry to swim with him in the tub during bathtime. He wants to play with Henry by jostling his bowl.

The good news is that we have yet to have a toiletside memorial service or any incidents with the small fish net. And doesn't he look so perky in there with the rocks from our garden?

Beta's can be pretty resilient. We had one for 2 1/2 years!?!?

What a cute little fish! Hopefully if you ever have to flush the fish your water will be on and you will actually be able to flush him.

PS. Why Henry?

What a great reward! And so many lessons that go with having a pet. :) Betas can live quite awhile - we had betas on the tables at our wedding reception and Nathan's sister kept one and it lasted a couple of years at least. I sure wish we could see Joshua grow up and hear him talk about all that's going on in his life!!

Patrick and I love the beta! We have one in our living room too. One time Patrick left town for a week and I forgot to feed it the whole time. It's still swimming strong though. Good choice for a pet.

I hear betas are pretty strong. I have a friend who has owned her's for 4 years now, and it's still kickin'.

Emma and Brigham keep begging us for a pet. We keep telling them that some day we will get them fish.

Joshua's pretty ingenious to ask if Henry can swim in the bathtub with him.

Cool name for Joshua's Fish.
I hope he enjoys his fish.

Oh, that's fun. Ellie also had a beta for awhile. It found a new home with grandma and grandpa when we moved out here. Fun though.
