Joshua's Garden

Joshua has his very own garden for which we've given him few restrictions--they mainly have to do with water since he'd have the water on for two hours if we let him. The former owners used this space as their tomato and herb garden, but it really didn't get a lot of sunlight until recently and so we planted our garden in a different spot and left this area to Joshua to dig in and flood. He loves playing in this little spot. Months ago he asked if he could plant watermelon in the plot. We didn't think the plant would make it with all of his activities, but it is growing to our suprise. Stay tuned for a photo of the tiny melon!

Joshua's activities in his garden normally include "changing his soil" (we don't know where he got that from), watering, and weeding, but the other day I caught him rowing. As I approached he even informed me that I was going to sink into the river! Luckily, winter came fast and he told me that the river was frozen so tht I could stand on the ice to snap this photo.

Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa Player for the tools you brought Joshua! He can't get enough of them.

Papa Serpa told me when you were all young to be sure you had dirt to dig in. I am so glad Joshua has his special spot.

I am so excited for Joshua! I took my girls to some Seattle Tilth (gardening) classes last summer. There is so much they can learn about the workings of the garden!!

Where else would he be in the summer?
If no pool..."water" your garden.
Can't wait to see the melon.

So fun. Reminds me of the quote,

"When I grow up, I want to be a little boy."

So creative and free. Ahh, the blissful days of summer.
