Tonight for FHE I had planned to decorate a few cookies as a family--the old FHE activity-treat piggyback strategy to use our time efficiently since certain people are ticking time bombs at that time of the evening. Anyway, this afternoon we made the dough and cut it out so that they could bake and cool by FHE. My brilliant boy of four suggested that we make a few for Santa, too, and freeze them until Christmas Eve. Why didn't I think of that? There's your tip from Joshua--make your cut-out cookies for Santa ASAP so that the messy part (of rolling, flouring, etc) isn't a part of your Christmas Eve agenda.
By the way, I'm fascinated by how much enjoyment Joshua experiences with a rolling pin in his hands. No, he's not immune to frustration of figuring out how to use the right amount of flour and pressure, but he seems to feel pretty powerful with that tool in his hands.

Sounds like a good idea!
That is so cute - I think kids in the kitchen is one of the most fun thing about being a parent. Elijah also just loves the rolling pin. He'll get it out just to play with around the house - rolling it on the floor, etc. Boys and their tools!!!
I love it. Yes, it looks just like my kitchen last week. Flour everywhere. So much fun.
That looks like fun. I hope you guys have a Merry Christmas.
What a great idea! What would we do without kids? I'm glad that you guys had fun together!
How is it that he looks so grown up in that picture? Didn't I just seem him a few weeks ago? Has he really grown up since then? PS. It's so nice for him to be thinking about Santa Claus & his cookies. His parents must be teaching him well.
Liz--you guys make me smile too!
It is such a pleasure to watch Joshua growing up on your blog. And he certainly is growing up.
