Thanks--To My Sisters

Isn't it amazing how we are completely enveloped by the support of other women when we get married and have babies? I remain amazed by the generosity that pours freely from the hearts of mothers, sisters, girlfriends, etc. I've recently found myself taking copious mental notes on how to serve by experiencing the service of those around me.

My sister is here spending her vacation with me for the last week. Read her blog to learn how to be the coolest aunt ever (and to hear some great music--she always has a fun playlist.) J has been completely taken care of for the past week and I've loved her companionship and endless willingness to serve me. She goes home today--you're one lucky dog, James. My other sister just had her second little guy last fall. She wanted to help, but with her present maternal obligations keeping her from boarding a plane with two boys under the age of 3, she did the next best thing to coming and waiting on me hand-and-foot--she sent chocolate. And lots of other things, too. Her care packages are textbook examples of service because she sees a needs and meets the need in one cardboard box.
And then I have other sisters here in NJ that have served me--they have invited J over for playdates, provided delicious meals for my family, called to check in, picked up the slack for me in my responsibilities, expressed confidence in me. My good friend put together a fun treat kit for J and I to work on together. J's favorite part was smearing on the frosting, and I loved the chocolate most--thanks, Amanda!
I 've never felt short on ideas for ways to serve, but everyday I find myself saying "oh, so that's how you do it." I'm looking forward to being able to help out my next new mom friends after getting so many great ideas from my sisters here.
