His assignment was to give a talk with the theme "I will follow the prophet." He informed me last Sunday that he wanted to give a talk about President Monson. Earlier this week I told him a few stories about President Monson's life, and this morning he decided he'd tell the story about the widows. He ad-libbed it, but this is what he said, I think:"This is President Monson.
When he was a bishop there were lots of widows in his ward.
This is a widow.
He would visit all the widows in their homes.
And he showed them love so they loved him, too.
I want to follow Jesus and President Monson's example."
As a funny sidenote, earlier this week I had told him the story about how President Monson had shared his favorite toy train as a young child, but J wasn't excited about telling that story this morning because he didn't want to have to say "I can share my toys with my friends, too." He told me this morning "I don't like that story, it scares me. I don't like to share."

Soooo.
Maybe I shouldn't be a teacher.
I was reading the post & laughing pretty hard.
I then read it to James as he looked over my shoulder.
"Widow. Honey. It says widow."
All that time I was reading "window" thinking J has mis-heard you & used the wrong word.
The story is funny with the correct word...but even more funny if you think he's actually saying window.
And glad to know where he stands on the whole sharing thing.
i love his stories. you can't SCRIPT stuff this well. widow...thats funny.
Oh, he looks so manly and serious! Very cute!
This is a widow...priceless. He is hilarious. I like that he is honest about the whole sharing thing. I think Grace feels the same way, but I am not sure that she would dare verbalize it like that.
That is really and cute a picture of Joshua.
Beijos
I'm so so sorry I missed this. And to be frank, I don't like sharing either, it can get pretty scary.
ok, I love that you have this photo of cute little J..he is so grown up! I am diggin' the pic of the widow as well and I can totally hear Lewis saying the same thing..I don't like that story. Lately he always says, "Char doesn't like my yogurt, char doesn't like to play with trains.." Just fill in the blank...it means he does not want her doing...fill in the blank..ahh
HA HA HA HA HA HA!
He's so full of honesty!
i love it! that is great. i can't stop laughing right now. i also can't believe little j is old enough to give talks in primary! we miss you guys!
What honesty! He is obviously being raised right! And he is so cute! Can't believe how fast everybody is growing up...
I love his honesty! I have a couple of kids who think sharing is scary, too!
"I don't like to share" He's going to have a rude awakening soon, if he hasn't already:) Too funny!
That is Hilarious! I can't believe how big he is. You have such a cute family, I am so happy for you!!
Heather
He looks so handsome in his white shirt and tie. Good talk, Joshua! Taylor actually gave a talk today as well on "families in the scriptures".
I should have snapped a shot.
What a doll! I absolutely love how our kids hear stories and make sense of them!
