Birdwatching: J and I took the twins birding the other day. We'd ride around and if either of us would spot a bird, we'd stop and J would try to identify our feathered friend. I was impressed by his patience--it would take about five minutes for him to decide what the subject of our search might be. He loves his New Jersey Birds book. He loves it so much we take it to sacrament meeting because it (sometimes) keeps him quiet.
Art: out of nowhere he started creating his own artwork. So far, he seems to prefer creating landscapes. I wish I would have taken photos of the big posters he made for my dad--we rolled those up and mailed them off in a poster tube a couple weeks ago. This is from the other day after we went to the Delaware River. He came up with it while D and I were making dinner one night. This beauty, since you're interested, is a depiction of the Delaware River itself. He used gravel from the backyard, crepe paper from our party supplies, and a felt marker.
Here's a drawing he did on a white board. It's his depiction of a farm we frequent--a rocky brook, some sort of fruit trees (at the bottom) and the new big red barn at the entrance with a sidewalk that goes around the back of it.
Oh, and he loves the Scripture Scouts. Have you ever heard those? We've been listening to the audio stories about the Book of Mormon nonstop for about a week now.

"Come on, come on in... the scripture adventures are about to begin!" Yeah, we've heard that once or twice (or two thousand) times. What a cute boy that J is! Can't wait to see you all soon.
What amazing creations! He has quite a mind - that's so neat. Yes, we have Scripture Scouts! Am I the only one creeped out by the dog's voice? Anyway, didn't grow up with them of course but figure you can't go wrong with the good ol' 70s so we got one set a couple of years ago.
The picture of him with his bike & book is a classic. The helmet makes it all the more endearing. Can't wait to hear about your adventures in Deer Park!
my goodness Liz, Joshua does nice work. Do you think I can get one of those drawings?
Wow, that is great artwork. You must hang out with the Harrisons every now and then! I wonder where he picked up that bird watching!
Tell Joshua we love his artwork!
