Have you heard me rave about how much I love the fall yet? I'm sure I've done an "I love the fall" post for the last two years. But just to review, I love the fall for the warm colors, the crisp air, our wedding anniversary, the earthy smells. I love pumpkin cookies, pumpkin picking, pumpkin pie, and butternut squash soup. (That last one didn't throw you off, did it?) Here are my cute kids on some recent fall walks:

Well, technically, we hadn't embarked on our walk yet, but I snapped this shot of J entertaining the babies the other night. A couldn't get enough of J's silliness.

Confession: I was once a genuine Halloween Scrooge, a really Halloween Grinch. As a girl I hated the scary dark aspects of the strange celebration that is Halloween. (Anybody else think it's totally weird that we "celebrate" Halloween?) Well, several years ago a good friend taught me to lighten up and enjoy all the fun to be had. So now I look forward to the fun. I mean, who couldn't love a tradition like this?

By the way, we grew that pumpkin in our very own backyard all summer long--ain't she purty?

I love the fall, too! So fun! These are great pictures!
What is it about little kids all bundled up that makes me giggle? I love those two little faces...and Joshua's big grin. Such fun kids.
ps. the home grown pumpkin is amazing. Don't you just feel like you saved so much money? I mean...the whole bag of seeds probably cost less than $5.99 (the cheapest pumpkin's we've seen).
I am also a reformed Halloween grinch. One thing that has helped me enjoy it more is making costumes for the kids. They get soooo excited!
I'm trying to enjoy fall more. Thanks for the reminders of its beauties!
Every Halloween we have asked ourselves WHY we celebrate it, yes! But then we remember the Daddy Tax on the candy and have fun thinking up costumes and pumpkin designs. What a great self-confidence booster for J to have his little brother and sister hanging on his every move!
Yes, we have had the same discussion about Halloween (or the "pagan holiday" as my husband refers to it). However, that hasn't stopped us from stuffing our daughter into a cushy flower costume. I guess now that we have a little one we are having more fun with it, though hopefully not at her expense. The poor thing hasn't a clue, but she does look pretty cute!
hey! way to go with growing your own pumpkin! seth and i are going to do that next year.
