A Whole Month of Gratitude

The best part of autumn is the month of November. Gratitude is reinforced everywhere until Thanksgiving--the phrase "give thanks" is a popular decorative feature. I look forward to this month all year long.

In addition to Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday), November is the month of our anniversary. We celebrate it as a family anniversary in addition to celebrating it as the anniversary of our marriage. We worked really hard to get our Saturday work done so that today we could focus on fun. Tomorrow we'll have an anniversary cake for dessert with seven candles.

Today's fun included a walk along the Delaware Raritan Canal in beautiful Titusville, New Jersey. I love that the world looks like this for much of November in my part of the world.
October 2008 proved to be the the best October yet. J hasn't been too excited about costumes and trick-or-treating in the past, but Friday he seemed to become an average frenetic child as I took him to preschool. He came home and excitedly helped me prepare for the first annual neighborhood Halloween potluck we hosted, and then he was positively giddy about going house-to-house in the evening.

He's still pretty conservative in the costume department--this is what he wanted to wear this year. J had worn one of these at a friend's house and he came home requesting that I locate one for Halloween. Thank heavens for Joyce (the grandma of J's little friend) who had one of these cute homemade capes. Aren't these creations of hers perfect?!
And here are the wondertwins in their twin chicken costumes. I meant to get some better photos for my dad who raises chickens for their eggs, but this is the best I could get. Here they are, Dad. Two more chickens for the coop! They'll be the cutest fluffballs in the henhouse, and the one on the right growls.

I love that Joshua is conservative when it comes to costumes. He has such a strong personality. What a sweetie. The twins look adorable.
I couldn't agree more about McCain's speech. He did a great job and seems like a good man.
Oh, and Happy Anniversary!
