Egg Lab 2009

J ran his own egg-dying lab this year without anyone's help--I helped with set-up and the vinegar, but he was the mastermind behind this year's sixteen coloring experiments. I need to run to the store tomorrow and snatch up any discounted egg dye kits--this hour long project is so cheap and he was pretty independent. I loved listening to his comments as the tablets dissolved and as he checked the eggs in process. He liked that I didn't interfere--this boy's got his own ideas, you know. Like needing to use nine stir spoons.
Maybe when he starts washing his own dishes he won't see the need for nine stir spoons.

The biggest surprise for me was how patient he was--he actually left eggs in the dye for multiple minutes with the first round of eggs.
The alien eye pose with his two favorite eggs was inevitable--he's been obsessed with alien life lately. I wonder what it will be next year.

love those dyed colored fingers of his.
last year I colored eggs with him...maybe he can teach my boy how it's done one of these days (by then, he'll really know what he's doing).

I like that you let him do his own thing. I hope I can be the same way.
