Checklist for a Trip to an Amagansett Beach

One net for each child--this ratio is extremely important.
Sifter for discovering treasure in the gravel
Good friends for building "traps" and netting swimming critters

Shovel and pail
Snacks

This weekend D and I drove out to Long Island's east end to visit my amazing roommate (from my BYU days) and her family. Each time I'm with her it never seems like it's long enough--I learn so much from her. This time, the most magical part was seeing our girls play together and boys befriend one another, and there was something perfect about watching it all happen spontaneously without our prompting or encouragement. Isn't effortless friendship a gift?

P.S. Loved your most recent comment to Anne Marie. You are one perceptive gal.

Looks like a fun vacation. I need a beach break. Better yet, a beach house or time share.
