She Waded in the Water

It turns out that A is quite the waterbaby. When we took her to the shore in May we had to hold her back from diving right into the waves. In June while swimming at a friend's pool and then later at a nearby lake, she was bitterly disappointed to be removed from the water even though her lips were purple and her chin was chattering. And on the Fourth we went with friends to a local stream to search for dinosaur fossils (if you must know) and that little girl seemed at home in the calm current.

E tolerates the chill of the water, but he needs his breaks. Opportunities to splash, getting muddy, and the availability of tools also improve the experience for him.
J and his friend T loved the freedom of searching for fossilized squid and shark teeth. (I'm not kidding.) Climbing the muddy embankment (the one that looked like it would collapse at any moment) was also a source of smiles.
Glancing from left to right, this is what the scene looked like, swimsuit-less tots and all:

Today I was singing girls' camp songs to the babies, and "She Waded in the Water" happened to be one that came to mind. That's when it hit me that I'm not going to girls' camp this year. I've really only been able to go twice in the last ten years, but each year part of me hates missing it. So this starts a series of posts dedicated to the campfire songs I would hear the girls sing at camp this year.

love it!
I love that A's a water baby
I love that E had a shovel in his hand
I love that J was looking for dino fossils (any luck finding them?)
...and I love that you are singing camp songs to your two little babes!
After singing the same 'ol songs on my walk with Jackson the other day I found myself singin' "boom boom boom boom In a galaxy far far away..."

Aaah, Girls Camp. It was very fun to get to go with you way back when. I'm not going either this year-- the start date of Girls Camp coinciedes exactly with baby brother's due date. I'm glad you're doing well over there.

Your fondness of girl's camp gives me the biggest smile. It makes me wish I could go with you to camp again.
