In the Morning--The Walk

All morning walks begin with E shooting out the front door. "Zoom" he says.
In the winter A spends at least a few minutes insisting she doesn't need a coat. I've begun to think she's a purist and wants full exposure to the elements without a covering for at least a few minutes. She'd only have that blue tutu on if I had permitted it.
Eventually she relents and settles on a coat. She's choosy when it comes to her winter ensembles. Within a few minutes we're ready.
We pass many trees on the side of the road. I'm not sure it's a pretty or sad sight. Today they seem lovely dusted with snow.
No matter the season, we must greet the gull in the yard of one neighbor. The twins call him a duck, and I let them because (1) they can't say "gull" and (2) they make the cutest "quack" sound as they approach him. "Ga, Ga, Ga." Today we brush off snow and bid him farewell until tomorrow.
Eventually we make it home and they twins say J's name over and over as we approach the tracks he gleefully made in the snow this morning before school. "Look, Mom, I made a six. Or maybe an ampersand" he yelled into the kitchen. Ampersand? What? Where did he learn . . . .
E plays in the yard while he still has cold weather endurance. A, who is all out of endurance, and I amuse ourselves. A cute pink nose is always a good reason to take photos.
Back inside we go. With what will tomorrow's walk surprise us?
Had you any idea that a simple stool is the best drying station for snow outerwear?

I love it- especially the blue tutu- that's what childhood should be! Sometimes I wish I had a blue tutu to wear out in the snow:)

That was great. I like the simple comments and lots of photos. I tend to write a lot but simplicity is best. I think it will be so fun when, was it A and E?, are older to show them photos of the duck they love and how they just HAD to see it every morning. Love it.
Thanks for your comment. Of CoUrsE you were first haha! That would be great to get intouch with that friend of yours. Whenever you get a chance...

I LOVE this post...and I love the pictures. Especially after just returning from Buffalo and the SNOW! I appreciate the time it takes to get a child ready to go outside (and to think that you have 2 little ones!!) They are adorable!

Sariah used to refuse to wear her coat too, and o I would carry it with me just so people wouldn't think I was a bad mom. Hee hee.

And why haven't we seen each other yet? We need to get together.

The tutu is the best! And I've never liked putting a coat on either.

Love the "zoom." Love that little photo of your little man walking down the sidewalk with that Christmas tree on the ground. It just "feels" neat. Photo of little 'A' and you...precious. Look at her face! Such effort getting all of the boots, gloves, coats and hats on...and KEEPING them on. I remember from our freezing Iowa days. But SOO good to get outside. Cabin fever in those places is real and the only needle that can fix it is the big outdoors. Cheers to you!

J's smile is priceless (I'm thinking of the cousins photo a few posts back)! I can't wait to see your kids again (well J again, I still need to meet the twins). I also love the shot of half your face with A on this post.

I am going on more walks with Anders...your story and pics have convinced me. We don't have snow and you know that a little rain never stopped me! Thanks for the motivation!

I'm with Lauren. You have inspired me to be better about going on more walks, EVEN when it is cold. And I am still in love with A's tutu.
Lets get together soon.
