A Truck and Butterfly Cake

This week these two turned three.  I wish I could freeze them at this age.  Life is so fun, so surprising, so new still.  When you're three and it snows you squeal with glee.  When it rains  you jump up and down with excitement.  When it's windy you run around on the deck with a huge smile on your face.  Wouldn't it be grand if we faced the storms of life in this same way at age forty or even at age eighteen?
We celebrated with cake, ice cream and a mountain of gifts.  E had requested a truck cake, A had asked for a butterfly cake, and the final product was a chocolate cake with butterflies and trucks frolicking together on top.  It was a perfect metaphor for their relationship.  They were delighted, because, well, they're three!

We love these kids.  Posts of their individual three-year-old characteristics to follow soon.

Simple and sweet words and photos. But profound. I believe I recognize that cake stand. :)

Oh the truth in everything you said. Wind, snow and rain storms all met with faces fully turned to meet them. And smiling! C.U.T.E.
