Treat: Hot Chocolate Floats
Float a small lump of ice cream in hot chocolate--it cools it down and tastes delicious.
My sister-in-law Shannon recommended mint chip, but we've only tried it with vanilla.

Lesson: Heavenly Father's Plan for Us
Where we lived before this life. Why we're here. Where we're going.
This week we celebrate the twins' birthday so it's a fitting reminder.

My mom made us some FHE helps/visuals/sets for Christmas and we love pulling them out. Many of them are laminated, so they don't disintegrate in my kids hands when they're enjoying their chocolatey-creamy treat mid-lesson.
Activity: Family Dance
(Dan was out of town--he missed out but we'll do this again.)
J just learned the Bunny Hop in gym class at school so we put on "Grace Kelly" and copied his moves.

Which led to YMCA somehow.
Which led to "The Ants Go Marching" on the same kids' CD we have.
Which led to about five other songs in my ITunes Library.
Which led to "Just Haven't Met You Yet".
(And then we watched that music video and tried to copy the choreography which makes the kids laugh hysterically.)
I will warn you that sometimes a family dance doesn't always turn out like you picture it. Sometimes everyone needs a lot of warm-up time--the moves just don't come naturally. Sometimes it turns into a seemingly choreographed martial arts demonstration. Sometimes it turns into a wrestling match. Sometimes they shed clothing and end up in their underwear. I usually set out the ground rules right away--"everybody moves the whole time, no throwing objects or hurting people"--I feel like a chaperone of a junior high dance at times. I find that if I enjoy myself they do, too, so I put on music I enjoy and wait for them to surprise me with their spontaneous movement.

Nothing like a good 'ol family dance.
love all of it! I can't wait to try the hot chocolate floats...it is snowy outside, so it may just be tonight!
We love the family dance at our house. It usually means lots of turning in circles and getting dizzy, but lots of laughter too. I always love reading about your FHE's. They sound a lot like ours; although I suspect your lessons are better executed. I need someone to make cool laminated visuals for me. :)
How fun! I love your small print description of how things really went---hilarious and oh so accurate, I'm sure!
