I haven't blogged about Family Night in weeks. It's time to backtrack, but not before posting a totally unrelated photo.
Just giving the people what they want--fashion and function.

LAST Week's Outline
Treat: Strawberry Ice Cream Shakes
Lesson: Looking for the Good
This message is so good--we started a challenge suggested at the end of the message to keep track of the good things we see for one week.
Activity: Watching a clip of "Fly Me to the Moon"

Another unrelated photo. I just love it when the forsythias bloom--it means spring! I've tried to get the kids to stand in front of our neighbor's bush a dozen times. This was as good as it got.

THIS Weeks's Outline
Treat: Peanut Butter Cookies
Lesson: Being Prepared for Adversity
I told the Parable of the Ten Virgins, and then we went through the things that our prophets and apostles have warned us that we need to do to be prepared for adversity. Since Friday I have been consumed by the fact that I have not done all I need to do to deal with natural disasters in spite of repeated warnings from our leaders. My kids are going to know all about three-month storage, cash savings, water storage, and 72-Hour packs--I realized last night that I haven't talked about this enough to put them at ease. We also decided on what we could do for the people of Japan.
Activity: Filling our Water Storage Containers
Sixty gallons of water in stackable, portable containers: check!
Meanwhile, J has four drills this week at school for severe weather (tornadoes), lockdown/intruder, fire, and evacuation. It has reminded me that we need to do some family drills of our own.

You are such a huge example to me, sis! Not only do you have regular fhe, but you have PLANNED fhe! Impressive.
Your water bins are super cool. Small and stackable. Smart. Much better than those huge barrels.
Oh, my goodness... first... cute little "girly-girl" you have there. Second... the tree made it from New Jersey to Virginia?????? Wow!
Love E's smile in front of the bush.
