Dear J Family,
We drove home yesterday talking about our favorite things in your part of New England. So much of it was charming and educational and beautiful, but we loved time with you best. Seeing that campus of yours and having good conversation made this trip worthy of a repeat. Your family and your ward and your departments are so lucky to have you two year round.
Connecticut can't fool us. That rain and cloud cover just makes the green greener and the colors all the more vibrant.
And a greenhouse, it turns out, is a good place to use the camera when rain threatens its ability to function outside. Next time I'll bring an underwater camera and maybe more umbrellas.
And the winner of the "Rain's Not Gonna Get Me Down" Award is . . . . everyone! You pointed out this was a kid;s dream to let them all traipse through the rivers of water in the gutters and the torrents of rain coming down from the sky. Our fun walk through your campus turned into a very wet memory!
This was the only photo I got of the Arboretum. Can you believe that? I thought my camera was dead.
Guess we'll have to convince you to let us return. Maybe we can reserve this room in some future visit? I mean, a window seat with built in bookcases? Come on. Expensive hotels don't even have those.
I'm pretty sure I didn't give you a big enough tip, Elise, for taking us not once but repeatedly into the rain. And keeping your cool during that short stretch when I thought E was having an asthma attack, that was so needed. I loved our conversations and your willingness to share ideas and I appreciate all that maturity of yours that I haven't developed yet.
I figured out what I love about you most. And that's that you are so driven to make a change in this world and you're willing to work and sacrifice for it, and I value your vision.
Here's to more visits in the future and let's keep in touch.
Love,
Liz
P.S. I'll post Seaport photos tomorrow.

My sister! Your hair is so long and beautiful!!! M's hair is getting long too. Long and curly. Love! Looks like you had a fantastic trip. Can't wait to see more pictures (as always).
Ah, I love seeing pictures of two awesome Seattle friends! We need to get together with both of you again sometime. Great pictures!
So good to see Elise in these pix. I was her VT so long ago...I remember that Austin had a diaper blowout on her bed and I did everything I could to clean it all up and she never even knew about it. Sorry Elise!!! I was a newbie mom and oh-so-embarassed :)
