Mountain Man Breakfast with a Little Rain Mixed In

This morning we woke up to light rain in our campsite in Shenandoah N.P., and our kids all burst out of our tents and ran around with amphibious energy until they focused their efforts on getting the fire going for breakfast.

We had the campground to ourselves.  I guess nobody else wants to camp just before a hurricane hits the nearby coast.
It was a great blessing that the sprinkling didn't turn into a full-blown rainstorm until after breakfast was ready.
We piled into our tent, all ten of us, and enjoyed mountain man breakfast with orange juice and fresh peaches.  One-night camping trips allows for such niceties.
We're home now, ridding ourselves of mud and smoke, waiting to see how this hurricane will play out.

Tell me this: have you had any fun experiences camping in the rain?

Memorial Day Weekend at Clark Fork. Rain, snow, water in the girl's tents, girls in the car with mom.

Chad and I were solo campers too, even though friends thought we were nuts (couldn't pass on the offer of an overnight babysitter). A great time even if we did end up rather soggy in the kayak.

Glad you had a good time! We love Shenandoah.

I remember that too mom: Clarke Fork. Rain. snow. cold. I have this memory of Dad picking me up and taking me out of the tent and into the Mollards van and it was nice to be out of the cold. I'd do it again tomorrow though.
