Icicle Walk

Today's afternoon icicle walk presented us with one winter miracle after another.  The kids picked and licked icicles off lower branches, and we walked up streets noting how differently pine trees and magnolias look with snow on their needles and leaves.  We carefully pulled leaf-shaped pieces of ice off a holly trees leaves.  And I begged and pleaded with the kids to preserve the beauty and NOT shake and kick branches low enough to touch.
In full disclosure, we have the hardest time getting out the door on walks for some reason, but once we are outside and up the hill the kids don't look forward to going home. The continual variation of the seasons seems to keep our little scientists engaged in these Sunday walks.

Tell me this:  do you have any fun family traditions for taking walks?

Our "Walk" Traditions aren't usually very organized. Sometimes NCL wants to bring his scooter or his bike. We bring the stroller for AJ because he can't make it the whole way on foot (we have a lot of hills in our neighborhood). Roscoe, our dog, is always incredibly excited to be outside on a walk. Nicholas likes to stop and smell the flowers (literally). The boys find rocks in front yards. Sometimes we walk down or our local park (2 blocks away) and the boys swing in the dark :) No matter how unorganized we are - the fresh air is ALWAYS good for ALL of us!

we usually take a walk along the beach.
Victoria loves to roll on the sand like a dog and just pour it down her head.
Elena likes to draw on the sand, while the adults chat and enjoy the breeze and sun set... and I think many times how much cooler it would be if the Red Sea was actually red :-)
