On This Day of Joy and Gladness

Easter is such a wonderful day to be filled with gladness.  With children this emotion is so naturally manifest on this special spring day.
Today at church I told the story of Easter to group of four year olds.  Their faces mirrored my expressions of sadness and surprise and joy as I simplified my account of Christ's birth and life and mission and sacrifice, culminating in the scene at the garden tomb in which a grieving Mary met her Lord.  At the very end four-year old Calvin with his eyes full of light jumped to his feet and exclaimed "but he wasn't dead anymore and Mary was so happy!"

What a miracle Christ's resurrection is for all men, an inestimable gift.  Happy Easter!  (With a big emphasis on the "happy".)
