It was a long week of baking, buying, volunteering, and donating for J's weeklong party (it seemed) at school, but we made it through. Summertime at last.
J had a great teacher this year--she is personable and disciplined and talented in her trade as a teacher. On the last day the room moms gifted her with a bouquet of gift cards and a booklet made of her student's lists entitled "Five Reasons I'll Miss Ms. S." She spent almost ten minutes reading through each one laughing and being entertained, and it made me like her even more than I already did. I love it when teachers love their kids.
We lined up for the traditional school bus send-off. All the "walkers" and "pick-up kids" (whose parents pick them up each day) line the path the buses take from the school and we wave and cheer as the bus-riders scream and the bus drivers honk their horn. It is the perfectly chaotic ending to a school year.
And then we jumped into summer with a trip to Target for flip flops and to the frozen yogurt shop for a serious meeting about summer jobs since every meeting about work goes better when there is sweet promise of reward involved.
With every end there is a beginning, and we are looking forward to a long summer.

Now, that bus send off is a wonderful way to end the school year. How "old school" is that. I love it!
SUMMMMMMMMERRRRRR!
I bet you are giddy with excitement!
Very cool! Is it summer? Something about 50 degree weather, constant rain, and the fact that we are still in school makes it hard to believe. We have another six weeks but hopefully that will give the clouds time to work all the rain out of their systems . . . .
