Learn While You Camp

We had one final hurrah before school's start next week. It involved camping with friends, of course. I made a few notes to myself for camping trips to come.
Fire experiments could have taken up J's whole time in camp. The oldest boys came up with the idea to make tin can stoves to scramble eggs. We were all impressed, I think.
Grassy camp sites are definitely preferable to dirt and gravel. Dust isn't an issue, tumbles to the ground are padded, and the kids can walk around barefoot if they want.
Leaving camp leads to all sorts of great lessons. Kids are natural rock climbers. They have a natural way of taking one rock at a time, scooting on their bottoms, and holding on with their hands.
The banjo really does make everything better.
It doesn't matter how many times you reiterate the rules about playing in the fire. They will find a fire stick no matter what.

"The banjo really does make everything better." Yup. Music is a mood changer.
