College Match Day

In keeping with your 2013 goal to attend one UVA sporting event a month, we took the kids to two tennis matches this weekend.
We loved the power and explosiveness of the men's play, and we were impressed by the finesse and agility of the women's play. Sitting court side held the kids' interest, but I had to remind them that most tennis fans know that they are supposed to be quiet during play. (Not too seconds later my phone rang really loudly and I felt a little sheepish.)
On Saturday the women played Tech and we enjoyed the match in spite of the chillier temps.
Friday was the USTA's first College Match Day, so the kids scored sweet white caps. Lots of people had come out to see the Virginia-Duke match which made it even more exciting. Next year we will certainly seek out these matches.

I think we all want to play tennis after this weekend. As evidence, the kids came home and dug out our old racquetball racquets and have been hitting wiffle balls back and forth to each other ever since.
