Revolutionary Soup Date

Last year I decided I wanted to start dating Dan again. We really should've been doing it regularly all along. And so I did my research, ran some errands, and then I made a set of plans to give him as a gift: a set of twelve envelopes with notes and gift cards inside like I saw on Shannon Brown's blog. (So many good things happen in our home through imitation.) We are enjoying anticipating our monthly date nights, so I've been trying to figure out how to increase the frequency of them. With schedule and budget constraints this has called for new creativity.

On Friday we went to a popular soup and sandwich spot mid-day and I remembered how calming it is to talk when we don't have an entire day's worth of events to shove aside. It didn't hurt that the warm soup was perfectly filling on a chilly day as well.

I am totally convinced that 'dating' your husband is KEY to a happy & long marriage. It's amazing what we can call "a date" these days. Yesterday, we had 2 hours to shop for running/hiking shoes and it was totally "a date" during the day :)

I am so happy to hear that you and Dan have a monthly time set aside for "a date" -- and it's fun to find inexpensive (or FREE)things to do on a 'date night' :)
