At five years old, Elias feels like he should belong to just about every group of children, old or young, whether it's the group of neighborhood kids or the pack of children in the hallway at church. I think he might have picked up his older brother's ability to be friends with just about anybody. He currently loves his new bow and arrow (with suction cup tips), playing wiffle baseball and his Pokemon cards. He does not currently love to be laughed at nor does he love having toothpaste on his lips as we brush his teeth. Elias loves books about the creature (the wolf currently) that strikes him a scariest at the moment.
Amelia at five regularly interrupts me in my household tasks so that can do them out of sheer enjoyment of the work. She is "storyteller" of sorts which is not currently worrisome but could become so. Our parakeet is her current fascination. She loves our daily story reading on the couch as much for the snuggling as for the books. She doesn't care for cookies, having the light on when she's trying to sleep at night, and sharing my lap with anyone but Elias. Amelia loves books about girls, real and fictional, and she always asks if the story is true or not.
A and E still love being together. They could spend all day everyday together and not complain. They wrestle. They chase each other. They have long conversations over lunch. They convince each other to play the game of their choice. Five year old twins are one of God's most amazing creations. I should start a list of things made for five-year old twins. On this list would be a large computer monitor so that the one who likes typing equations in Microsoft Word (Elias) can be happy while the one who wants to watch short video snippets from Mormon.org (Amelia) can be content with a browser window open next to it. Also on the list would be hand blender beaters and the IPad game Ant Hill.

But my favorite thing about the last picture is that their socks match. You should add that to your list of things made for 5 year old twins: you can buy their socks in bulk. I wish those twins were here to play with my 5 year old! He would be overjoyed and so would I!
I love that they have each other. Such lucky siblings.
Liz, I am so thankful for YOU and your blogging. I just love to read about your family, adventures, thoughts, etc. It's wonderful. Thank you :) I think 5 year olds are pretty neat myself :)
