Reuniting and Revisiting

U.S. Road Trip 2013
Part Twelve
Summer visits to D's family home are always heavenly. This visit included lots of walks out to Grandpa's woodshop and Grandma's henhouse. We were lucky to overlap with his sister K and her family for a couple days. Our kids played together, assembling puzzles and challenging each other in Monkey Ball and Mario Kart. We love this family and have made such good memories through the years of our infrequent but happy visits.

When I am visiting D's hometown, particularly at church, I am mistaken for his sister K. I'm always so complimented. She's wonderful.
Also on our itinerary in Spokane was a visit to the Falls and Riverfront Park.

Our kids took in their first Imax movie, a very amazing documentary of the building of a railroad through the Canadian Rockies. Thanks, Grandpa and Grandma Player!

I love "The Runners". My favorite part of these sculptures are on their rear side--from the back their lungs are visible. I love that.
On our final night we visited Great-Grandma Smith. I snuck as many shots of her visiting with D as I could. She has always been so fun to talk to. I love the details of her home. It was here that D and I had an open house (in lieu of a reception) the night before we were married in Spokane almost twelve years ago. We always enjoy visiting her again.

Oh man, I need a copy of that picture of Grandma in her kitchen. It's making me bawl just a little. Love this post, Liz.
