Snow Day One

It started to snow on Wednesday as forecasted. That day at school teachers had held impromptu Valentines parties anticipating the cancellations. That afternoon we rushed through our errands and settled in before the storm. I was so excited I stayed up until 1:00 a.m. waiting for it to really come down. In the morning 11 inches blanketed the ground, the most that we've experienced here in Virginia in a single snowfall. We were stuck without plowed roads. We pulled out new snow boots and gloves I had thankfully just bought on winter clearance sales, and we went out into the whiteness.

A's giggles only cease when she can't tolerate wet hands and toes any longer. She is the best company out in the snow, finding a snowy perch to sit on while she chats with me after she has tired on a snow task.
J is a more deliberate in his approach to snow play. He has spent hours working on forts and perfecting sledding runs. He shapes perfect snowballs in his mittened hands and calculates the distance they fly when launched.
E barely stays upright in the snow. If he isn't tackling someone, he throws himself into the nearest soft spot. He has strong snowball-fighting instincts and teases/provokes anyone he can into engaging.

I love that you were so excited that you stayed up until 1 AM . . . moments like this when moms get to be little kids again, so excited.
