Our school's family game night was a huge hit with our kids. It turns out Amelia is a Twister champion, and Eli and Joshua both enjoyed themselves with their friends close by.
One frozen Saturday afternoon we headed to Chris Greene Lake to test out the thickness of the ice and check for the really cool whirring of a rock tosses across the surface. Though hard to explain it's worth driving and hiking for the possibility of witnessing it. Along the way there are plenty of other cool winter things to observe: hibernating bees and a beaver dam for example.
When the snow finally came, it didn't take us long to jump in. There's nothing like a snowstorm to show you where your snow gear is lacking. Eli's was the best, and it's no coincidence he had the most endurance outside in the snow.
We ended up having a couple storms that dropped six inches each time, which is just the perfect amount to slow everything down, but not stick around for too long.
