USRT15 #17--Sacred Spots in Missouri

After another refreshing stay with the Lunds in Missouri, we got on the road to see some of our church's historical sites. We first made it to the Independence Visitor Center. I can't remember everything the sister missionaries taught, but I can remember how I felt: Christ leads this church and He always has. He has ensured that the fullness of the gospel has remained.
I am grateful that here in the basement of Liberty Jail, Joseph Smith had the ability to see beyond the four-foot walls to the possibilities of the future.
We stopped at this quiet spot, a special site dedicated for the building of a temple.

We visited this quiet place. I enjoyed only a few minutes, sitting an thinking on a large, flat rock, before needing to move on.

Our last church history stop was to the monument housing the mill stone of Haun's Mill, a place of terrible tragedy for the members of our church, but a place where faith survived ugliness.

I am not sure I need frequent pilgrimages of this sort, and perhaps I wouldn't have visited these spots had they not been on my cross country route. However, my gratitude for the time to stop and see them was full. I was strengthened by the narratives and I felt more committed to the Gospel truths that link me to the people in these stories.
