Doing it by himself

He has done it. I've hesitated to make the big announcement but I think that Joshua is pottytrained. How it happened remains a mystery. We did, you know, the typical timer/treats routine, but we've done it before and it hasn't work out as beautifully as these past two weeks. We've been inside because of bad weather and it seems he was productive with the extra time on his hands.

I was telling my friend Laura that gaining control over that part of his health has seemed to increase his appetite for control over other aspects of his life--he tells me at least ten times a day "I can do it all by myself." He doesn't use the words "back off" but I think he would say those an additional ten times if he knew them. So, sugar cookies are a little funkier than usual round these parts and a little more laundry needs to be done and a few more messes need to be cleaned up. Now, how do I trick him into realizing he can do the latter two things all by himself as well?

Being potty trained is one of the best things ever ... hooray for Joshua and hooray for Mommy for being patient. They really won't accomplish this feat until they are completely ready.

I am impressed with how much you allow him to explore his world. Good for you ... I need to relax a little on not being afraid of messes to clean up.
