I read about their efforts to move towards net zero in the Times today. Check out the Times' report here. Frito Lay joins the ranks of such great companies as Stonyfield Yogurt (check out the Earth Actions on their website) and Interface, Inc. (check out the Sustainability Report on their site) who are trying to operate with one hundred percent sustainability in a market that doesn't reward it at the same rate. I know, I know, you economics folks like Dan out there are saying "businesses are rational agents who do only what's in their interest, even if it's not in their immediate interest." I still applaud the investment these corporations are making in our lives.
Oh, and Meghan, go onto the NYTimes' site and register--click on "register now" in the top righthand corner. It's going to ask you your some demographic questions (your age, occupation, etc). That will give you full access to the Times' features. At the very end of that process they'll have you click on the kind of E-mails you want to receive. I only chose one--something having to do with "Today's Headlines" or "Major Headlines" or something.

That is really impressive. I think more companies will follow!! I'm guessing there are tax benefits for their company the more eco-friendly they are too.
I would love to see more of this. I'm very impressed that they're heading in this direction.
