We had about an hour to celebrate their birthday due to commitments that couldn't be changed. And, come on, they're one. How much more than an hour could they really be expected to last for a celebration? Notice their perfect bodysuits and birthday hats crafted with felt by my talented sister AJ. I smile everytime I see these things. I can't imagine how many hours she spent with a needle, thread, scissors, and a glue gun to make them so cute. Photos don't do them justice.Their individual cakes were inspired by AJ's unique cake designs on their respective onesies. I'm so glad she made their onesies different. If there's any doubt that they are two very different little creatures, I think these pics will erase your questions.
Here's A carefully examining her cake, hat perched upon her cute head.
Here she is three minutes later, hat still on her head, marshmallows neatly placed beside her cake. I think there's just one little speck of frosting on her right ear, but her fingers don't even look sticky. In this family she won't be able to avoid getting dirty with work, but my guess is that she'll be detail-oriented. (Maybe that will make up for my inattention to details.)
I love E's expression in this photo--and, yes, his cheeks are so kissable.
Here's E two minutes after we gave him his cake. His hat had been discarded in the heat of cake exploration. I believe this is the moment when he began to massage frosting and cake. My prediction is that this boy will be a gardener much like his older brother J: I see a great deal of mud in his future!
For their birthday, we got them this cute little walk-behind wagon--I'd recommend it to anyone with a toddler, but I can't find it on-line. (We found ours on Craigslist.) It fits E perfectly inside, and A happily pushes him through the house as he makes his Ewok noises. And they're off to tackle toddlerhood together!

So cute! I can't believe how different they both are! (And that they are already a year old!!)
A year! I can hardly believe it! Those photos really are great (they do make some differences apparent). But I love that A pushes E in that walker wagon, how fun! (I wish I could hear E's Ewok noises).
Thanks for the post! Those two are so cute. The pictures are perfect. Can't wait to see them this summer (I will see them this summer, right?)
A while year... times goes by too fast. They are adorable and look super happy. I love how different they are too.
Miss you guys.
Happy Birthday! How adorable! They are both so cute!
Oh, you live way, way too far away from me! Your kids are adorable, but I can tell from their glowing faces that they are Aunt Deborah deprived.
You give me no choice but to consider moving to Newtown, or to start praying that you'll move back West. So. I'll pray that you come here, and you can pray that we'll move there and maybe we'll both end up somewhere in the middle.
Like Denver.
What a great post. I love the mini cakes, the hats and shirts are perfect, as is the commentary. The picture of A pushing E is going to be one that will pop up in their future I am sure. Hooray for a whole year of cute babyness!

So Adorable! DOn't you love how different they are? People are always asking me if my girls are different, and are surprised when I say yes since they're identical. Congrats on the first b-day. Can you believe how different your life is today than the day they were born? Yeah!
I loved this post! The onsie-inspired cakes were adorable and it is so fun to get a taste of their unique personalities. (And nice work AJ.)

Oh. my. goodness. One year! I can't believe it! They are absolutely adorable. I am wishing and praying that Josh somehow has business in New Jersey this year and we can return for a little bit with him so I can see these cute little buggers (and their wonderful, amazing mother of course!)
Happy birthday E and A! They are so cute. AJ did such a great job on their out-fits.
