California, Here We Come!

My legendary grandma Grace used to sing us California's state song and I still think through its lyrics when I return home. We were blessed that we were able to make a trip to sunny central California to see the Bjarnason side of our family this month.

J loves the workings of my parents' "ranch". This year he dubbed Tree 115 as the "perfect peach" tree, and he was allowed to claim it as his own. He also enjoyed the daily routines which currently include checking on the chicks.
Spending time with our family is always the highlight. We loved seeing my brother before he left town, and my sister spent some of the week with us with her two little boys in tow. The cousins rekindled their cute little relationships.
We visited Yosemite National Park--this year we only had time to enjoy a walk in the valley to Yosemite Falls, but the views were (and always are) breathtaking.
We didn't make it to the beach, but all three kids loved our family picnic and swimming time at Yosemite Lake. I felt lucky to see my Grandpa Lawrence--he drove all the way to the Lake to give me a hug and see my kids.

I'd like to spend time on the Bjarnison ranch myself. What a treat that must be for your children.

Papa is turning into a softy in his old age. Maybe he'll cry when he meets Jackson (his namesake) for the first time. Ok, maybe cry is too high of an expectation. Maybe he'll just touch/hold Jackson. That would be big.

I'm still so sad I missed the party on the farm. When will you be heading this way next? OR James & I could plan a trip that way. That would be fun!

I remember learning the CA state song! Now I sing it (well the two lines I still remember) when we cross the CA border.
By the way, I've been doing water aerobics and it feels WONDERFUL!!
