Summertime! Summertime!

We attended the kindergarten musical program this week starring our favorite kindergartner, of course.  J is the one on the far right and he's got his game face on if you don't see a smile.  His music teacher deserves an award for getting sixty kindergartners to sing and dance as well as they did.  I was mentally scheduling beach trips as the program progressed.  We were so ready to head to the shore by the end of the program.

For the record, I was raised on the music of the Beach Boys and I know a good cover when I hear one.  Nothing has rivaled the rendition that sixty kindergartners did of Little Surfer Girl.  I made a video of it (because I know his grandmas who are California girls themselves would want to see it), and haven't the clue of how to upload it, so you'll have to take my word for it.  They also sang about the "good ol' summertime", yellow-polka dot bikinis, falling in love on the way to Cape May, and they danced to "Wipe Out."
I am thrilled with how well J did this year.  He deserves awards for his effort and progress in getting along with other kids and for his academic growth, too.  His teacher deserves awards for her patience, work, and good humor.  I deserve something, too, like having him home for a summer of splashing, bike-riding, swim lessons, family reunions, and sand in our clothing.

That last picture of him is probably the cutest I've seen. What a handsome boy. Maybe you can get online and take a virtual tour of Hawaii???
