Look out summer . . .

. . . here we come.  Isn't the last day of school an event to remember?  It most definitely marks the first day of summer whether the calendar says it or not.

We picked J up from school at the early release time of 11:00 a.m.  We arrived to see the traditional farewell to the buses loaded with kids--all of the teachers and remaining students lined the school driveway as the buses pulled out honking their horns.  A happy roar of cheers was shared by everyone inside the buses and on the side of the road as they pulled away.  I wished I had my camera.

A "Welcome to Summer" banner greeted J at the front door and  popsicles were waiting in the freezer.  I'm so glad I don't have to share him with a teacher for at least the next three months or so.  These days will most definitely not all be perfect (E is upstairs screaming as I type this) but for a time daily planning and adventuring and work will include everyone.  This will be summer of learning and reading and adventure and mosquito bites and travel and hopefully lots of good healthy habits.

Of course, Joshua is first to top of the hill. Millie is keeping up... almost... and here comes Dad. I would be lagging even further behind. Oh, the cycle of life!

I guess you were FIRST to the top. What we will do to catch the moment!
