Red Wing Roots III

I could do a whole post on our favorite bluegrass band, the Steel Wheels, the hosts of the Red Wing Roots Music Festival in Mt. Solon, Virginia. I won't because nothing I can say can replace their tunes.
This is a photo-heavy post of our favorite music festival in Virginia. I love that it's a family-friendly event, and so I snapped pictures of the details that my kids love. I made sure to get a few shots of musicians, too, but generally when they were playing, I forgot all about my camera.

I took a few shots of a brief trip into the Harrisonburg Farmers Market and the JMU Arboretum on the Saturday morning of the festival.

But really, back to the Festival...

For some reason I didn't pick up a lot of new favorite songs this year, but I loved the bands on the roots stage the most. They are younger and they have something to prove. Their music wasn't as edgy (or as loud) and I wanted to buy all of their CDs at the merchandise tent.
During this particular set I went and gathered all of our friends who had been listening to the artist on the big stage. At the end one turned to me and said "Thank you! That was much better." That about sums up how I feel about this festival. It's a relief to be in a spot that has better music than what I hear on the radio. Listening to it in person adds to the quality. I'm getting a little braver about telling people about this place.
